The forest fires that have been ongoing in Spain since August 7 have not yet been fully extinguished. According to "Euronews," 4 people have died so far as a result of the fires, and 37 people have been arrested on suspicion of being connected to the fires.
The most severe situation is observed in the autonomous region of Galicia — 155 thousand hectares of land have burned here. This is considered the largest-scale fire since 2006.
Throughout the month of August, over 350 thousand hectares of land across the entire country have been damaged by fires.
Efforts to extinguish 21 fire hotspots are currently ongoing in various regions of Spain.
In the northern regions, experts from Germany are assisting Spanish firefighters.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez visited the fire site and emphasized that the cause of the incident is climate change and a severe heatwave.
