Russian President Vladimir Putin strongly opposed the deployment of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory. According to him, such military actions would be seen as a "legitimate target" while the fighting continues.

Putin also emphasized that Ukraine's membership in NATO contradicts Russia's security interests. However, he did not object to Kyiv joining the European Union.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, refused to go to Moscow for negotiations, accusing Putin of stalling for time. At the same time, he positively assessed the Kremlin leader's hint at a readiness for talks.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that 26 countries are ready to participate in a peacekeeping mission once the war is over.
