On November 15, restricted-scope talks were held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the Koksaroy residence.
It was emphasized that this state visit should mark the beginning of a new stage in the history of Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan strategic partnership and alliance relations.
It was noted with satisfaction that, within the framework of preparations for the visit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, Kazakhstan Medicine Days, a Kazakh film screening, Astana Days, and a number of cultural events were successfully held in Tashkent.
In the past period of the year, the trade turnover reached 4 billion dollars. The goal is to increase this figure to 10 billion dollars by increasing mutual trade volume and through import substitution. The volume of transportation is growing, with more than 40 flights per week being operated between cities.
In recent years, 6.5 thousand joint enterprises have been established, and major projects are being implemented in priority sectors. A project portfolio worth over 8 billion dollars has been prepared to develop industrial cooperation. It was proposed to launch a joint investment platform to implement these projects.
During the talks, special attention was paid to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, transport, the chemical industry, agriculture and water management, environmental protection, information technology, and other important areas.
The importance of further expanding interregional ties was emphasized. An agreement was reached to hold the first Council of regional leaders of the two countries in Kazakhstan in 2026.
The heads of state also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
