According to the decree signed on November 25, a special commission to manage urgent measures to improve the environmental situation in Tashkent has been formed without delay. According to the Presidential Press Service, this decision was made following the observed air pollution and a sharp increase in dust levels in the capital.
A day before this, a meeting chaired by the Head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, discussed comprehensive proposals on the root causes of environmental problems and their elimination. The presented proposals include both immediate measures and long-term solutions aimed at preventing such situations in the future.
The meeting outlined tasks such as strengthening environmental control, restricting the activities of polluting facilities, tightening construction requirements, large-scale greening of the city, and implementing a modern air quality monitoring system. A draft presidential decree finalizing these proposals is expected to be submitted to the head of state in the coming days.
According to the remarks of the Chairman of the Ecology Committee, Khairulla Gaffarov, today's problem is linked to processes that have formed over several years, with the main factors cited as climate change, industrial and thermal power plant waste, as well as substances emitted by transport. He stated that decreased precipitation and weak wind movement lead to dust lingering in the air for extended periods.
