It has been reported that Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro has expressed his readiness to leave the presidency after a year and a half in negotiations being conducted with the United States through various unofficial channels. This was reported by the publication Zamon.uz reported.

Maduro does not intend to implement this decision in the next 18 months, but did not rule out the possibility of leaving state leadership in the future.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that US President Donald Trump told Maduro that if he does not resign voluntarily, Washington will consider other options, including the use of force.

The New York Times wrote that the possibility of a personal meeting between the two leaders was discussed. Trump confirmed the phone conversation but did not disclose its details.
