Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she was astonished by US President Trump's statements about her. This was reported by the BBC.

In an interview with an Italian television company, Trump said that Meloni had "asked" him to take a photo together, which caused a dispute between the two leaders.

Meloni, however, rejected these claims, calling them "fabrications," and announced that Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani's visit to the US had been cancelled.

She emphasized that such statements could negatively affect relations between allied countries.

In a post on social media, Meloni wrote, "to be honest, I am astonished," expressing her dissatisfaction with the situation.

At the same time, she noted that Italy never asks anyone for anything.
