In an extraordinary session held in the Jizzakh region, the candidate previously nominated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was approved for the position of regional governor.

Today, on December 2, an extraordinary session of the Jizzakh Regional Council of People's Deputies was held with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The candidacy of Ulugbek Mavlonovich Mustafoev, who has been acting as the regional governor, was considered and supported by the deputies.

According to the voting results, Mustafoev was officially approved for the position of Governor of Jizzakh region. The head of state set a number of specific tasks for the new governor for 2026: attracting $4.5 billion in foreign investment, increasing export volume to $500 million, providing employment for 175 thousand people, and lifting 15 thousand families out of poverty.

For reference, Ulugbek Mustafoev was born on August 14, 1968, in Jizzakh region. He graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy and worked in various positions in the banking sector and the Central Bank system.

Since 2016, he has served as First Deputy Governor of Jizzakh region, then as head of "Uzbekenergo" JSC, and also as Chairman of the "Regional Power Grids" JSC.
