In China, on December 9, the former CEO of the company, Bai Tianhui, was executed for taking bribes of 1.1 billion yuan (approximately 156 million dollars).

According to the investigation, he had used his high-ranking positions between 2014 and 2018 to illegally accept large sums of money and assets.

Bai Tianhui was sentenced to death in May 2024, and the sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court after his appeal in February was rejected. The convict's family declined to comment on the matter.

This execution was the latest major case in China's intensified anti-corruption campaign in the financial sector.

It was recalled that in 2021, the former chairman of "Huarong," Lai Xiaomin, was executed after being convicted of taking bribes of 1.79 billion yuan.
