The accused R.S. went to Russia for work on October 2, 2021, and in January 2022, due to his involvement in the illegal sale of psychotropic substances, he was found guilty in August 2023 of committing a crime under Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and a sentence of 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment was imposed on him.
In September 2024, servicemen of the Russian Ministry of Defense arrived at the penal institution in the city of Neviansk, Russia, where R.S. was serving his sentence, and offered the prisoners serving their terms to sign a one-year contract to participate in the war between Russia and Ukraine in exchange for their pardon, a monthly salary of 200,000 rubles, and granting of Russian citizenship.
Subsequently, R.S., pursuing his personal interest in being released from imprisonment, took Russia's side and, in order to participate in armed clashes against Ukraine, signed a one-year contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense on January 4, 2025, and on January 5, went with other prisoners to a field training ground of the Russian Ministry of Defense located in the village of Metelist, Donetsk region of Ukraine, where he underwent military training for 10 days. He received the military rank of "private soldier" within the Russian Armed Forces and began serving in the position of "motorized rifleman" under the conditional call sign "Saidul".
After the completion of military training on January 15, 2025, R.S. was mobilized along with other servicemen to participate in military operations in the direction of the village of Zverova, located on the territory of Ukraine, and during participation in combat operations against Ukraine, as a result of an attack carried out by Ukrainian military forces on January 16, he received wounds to various parts of his body and was treated in a military hospital from January 24 to March 21.
After that, R.S. escaped from the military hospital in Yekaterinburg on March 21, 2025, applied to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow, received from the embassy a repatriation certificate No. 604201, and returned to Uzbekistan with this certificate on March 28, 2025.
According to the court verdict, the accused R.S. was found guilty of committing the crime provided for in Part 1 of Article 154 of the Criminal Code. Applying Article 57 of the Criminal Code with this article, a sentence of restriction of liberty for 3 years and 6 months was imposed on him, consisting of compulsory labor, as well as restriction of leaving his place of residence during the time necessary for travel to and from the place of work.
