According to Trump's emphasis, during his first term in the presidency, the US Armed Forces were completely reorganized, the army was modernized and supplied with nuclear weapons, and the Space Force was established. He stated that nuclear confrontations between Pakistan and India, Iran and Israel, as well as Russia and Ukraine were prevented.
At the same time, Trump noted the necessity of developing a new and modernized agreement on nuclear issues instead of extending the "New START" treaty.
It is noted that there are no nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Kyiv signed documents on nuclear disarmament in the early 1990s and acceded to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. As part of this process, the Budapest Memorandum was adopted, and the nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory were transferred to Russia or destroyed.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the risk of nuclear weapon use has reached its highest level in recent decades. US Vice President JD Vance, however, stated that Washington is ready to cooperate with Russia, China, or other states on reducing the number of nuclear weapons.
