The project used enough metal and concrete to build 10 Eiffel Towers and 2.5 Burj Khalifas; the factory will produce about 900 thousand tons of copper concentrate per year.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the ceremony of launching the 3rd copper beneficiation plant at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. The $2.7 billion project, being implemented on an area of 196 hectares within the framework of the "Yoshlik-1" field development program, strengthens the country's industrial capacity and enables deep processing of natural resources.
The factory has the capacity to process 60 million tons of ore per year and produce about 900 thousand tons of copper concentrate, ranking among the largest beneficiation plants in Central Asia and the world. In the implementation of the project, technologies from companies such as Italy's "Wood", Great Britain's "Worley Parsons", and "Metso", "FLSmidth", "Weir Minerals", "Siemens" were applied.
The volume of metal structures at the factory is equivalent to 10 Eiffel Towers, and the concrete consumption is almost equal to 2.5 Burj Khalifas, confirming its megaproject status. Reserves at the "Yoshlik-1" and "Qalmoqqir" deposits last for 100 years; at the new plant, the daily volume of copper concentrate will increase from 2.4 thousand tons to 5 thousand tons, and over 6 thousand young people will gain high-income jobs.
Technological processes are digitized and managed based on artificial intelligence; power consumption is expected to decrease by 10%, costs to be reduced by 15%, and labor productivity to increase by 10%.
