In the final match held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time, becoming world champions for the second time in their history.
During the award ceremony, Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino presented the medals to the players. Afterwards, they handed the World Cup trophy to Spain national team captain Rodri.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also stood next to the US President at the ceremony. They congratulated the Spanish national team on their historic victory.
For the record, the 2026 World Cup was held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In the tournament final, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0. Ferran Torres scored the winning goal.
