Today, in the field of engineering, the demand for specialists who have mastered digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovative production processes is increasing. Therefore, international academic exchange programs are gaining great importance in enhancing students' professional potential.

Students of the Almalyk State Technical Institute participated in the international competition "Summer University – 2026" organized at one of the prestigious higher education institutions of the Russian Federation — Siberian Federal University. The students selected based on the competition in the fields of mining and metallurgy received the opportunity to study in an international environment, exchange experience with foreign students, and acquire modern knowledge.
In this competition, 430 students from 20 countries of the world, including Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, Chile, and others, participated.

One of the main directions of the program was the course "Digital Transformation in the Mining and Metallurgical Complex", in which students gained theoretical and practical knowledge in geoinformation systems, digital modeling, automated production, artificial intelligence technologies, and simulation of technological processes. They also acquired skills in working with ProCAST and DEFORM-3D software.

As part of the competition, participants got acquainted with the activities of large industrial enterprises of Russia — RUSAL Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant, Krastsvetmet, and the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station. During the practical visits, they studied advanced solutions in digital management, production automation, environmental safety, and energy efficiency.
Within the program, an international hackathon was also organized for developing and presenting innovative projects. In it, students of the Almalyk State Technical Institute (ASTI) presented their ideas aimed at increasing the efficiency of the nuclear power plant being built in Uzbekistan. Fortunately, the institute's students, under the name of the "UzYadro" team, performed worthily in the final stage and were recognized by international experts as the winners in the "Most Innovative Project" nomination. This achievement clearly demonstrated the students' innovative thinking, teamwork culture, and ability to compete on the international stage.

Along with the educational process, cultural events, excursions, and communication with students from different countries further enriched the participants' worldview and communication skills.
Participating in the international competition was an important step for students of the Almalyk State Technical Institute in mastering modern knowledge, practical experience, and the environment of international cooperation. Such programs serve to train a new generation of engineers who are competitive, think innovatively, and meet the demands of the global labor market.
