In January–July 2026, 7,749,307 foreign tourists visited Uzbekistan. This is 22.6 percent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The Tourism Committee reported this.
The increase in tourist flow is occurring alongside the expansion of the international air service network. In January–June of this year, Uzbekistan’s airports served 8.15 million passengers. This is 16 percent higher than in the same period last year.
During this period, a total of 64,831 flights were operated at the country’s airports. Of these, 47,371 were international flights.
6.7 million passengers used international flights, and this indicator increased by 15.4 percent over the year. The volume of cargo and mail processed at airports increased by 33 percent, reaching 51.5 thousand tons.
The geography of international air services is also expanding. In 2026, new direct flights to Tashkent were launched by China Eastern Airlines from Shanghai, Asiana Airlines from Seoul, and Shirak Avia from Yerevan.
Passenger flow also increased at regional airports. In particular, passenger flow at Termez Airport increased by 52 percent, in Urganch by 24 percent, and in Nukus by 23 percent.
The increase in tourist flow is also affecting the expansion of accommodation infrastructure. In January–July, 705 new accommodation facilities with 22,296 beds were established in the country.
As a result, the total number of accommodation facilities in the country reached 7,440, and the number of beds in them reached 202,600.
The economic efficiency of the tourism sector has also increased. In the first seven months of the year, tourism services exports amounted to 3 billion 895.7 million US dollars. This is 56 percent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
One of the latest examples of the expansion of international air services was the launch of direct flights by Etihad Airways between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent. The first flight was operated on August 10.
Thus, in January–July 2026, positive dynamics were recorded in Uzbekistan in the main indicators of the tourism sector: the flow of foreign tourists increased by 22.6 percent, tourism services exports by 56 percent, and passenger flow at airports by 16 percent.
According to the Tourism Committee, these indicators show that the importance of tourism in the country’s economy is growing and that the potential for further development of the sector is high.
