President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed a number of important projects in New Tashkent and launched their implementation.
The heads of state were briefed on the master plan of New Tashkent, construction processes, transport and engineering infrastructure. It is planned that in the future, 2 million people will live in the new city, which is being built on an area of nearly 20 thousand hectares.
In addition, Mirziyoyev and Aliyev ceremonially opened the new campus of the Uzbekistan National Pedagogical University named after Nizami, which is being built on an area of 40 hectares. The campus will include academic buildings designed for 20 thousand students and dormitories with 5 thousand places.
As part of the visit, work also began on the creation of the "Azerbaijan" park, which will cover an area of 4 hectares in New Tashkent. It will feature a public space reflecting Azerbaijani culture, history and national traditions.
It was noted that the "Uzbekistan" park is also being created in Baku. Thus, these sites in Tashkent and Baku are expected to become a symbol of friendship and cultural closeness between the two peoples.
