The Competition Committee has identified that prices of medicines have been unjustifiably sharply increased in some pharmacies. According to the committee, approximately 2,500 pharmacies increased the established trade margins by 10 percent to threefold in nearly 686,000 cases. As a result, 21.1 billion soums were unjustifiably collected from consumers.
It is noted that appropriate measures have been taken regarding the violations, and work has begun to return the illegally obtained funds to citizens.
Also, in the first quarter of this year, over 110,500 cases were identified in more than 190 pharmacies. It was found that in these cases, medicine prices were also artificially inflated, and over 1.4 billion soums were overcharged from the population.
The committee recommends that citizens check prices through the reference price registry when purchasing medicines. If it is found that medicines are being sold at a higher price than established, complaints can be filed via the short number 1159.
Let us recall that last year, cases of unjustified price increases by pharmacies were also observed. At that time, over 267,000 violations were identified in 765 pharmacies, and nearly 8 billion soums in illegal revenue were reported.
