Russia carried out a large-scale missile attack on the territory of Ukraine. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the strikes targeted military command facilities, airbases, and defense industry enterprises.
The statement said the attack used the Oreshnik ballistic missile, the Iskander aeroballistic system, the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, and the Zircon cruise missile.
Explosions observed in Kyiv and other cities
On the night of May 24, powerful explosions occurred in Ukraine's capital Kyiv and several other cities across the country. A missile threat was declared nationwide.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, destruction was recorded in almost all districts of the capital. Ukraine's Emergency Service also confirmed damage in several areas of the Kyiv region.
Hypersonic and cruise missiles were used in the attack

The Russian side claims that "all designated targets were destroyed."
Medvedev: The strike on Starobilsk caused the attack
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that the Ukrainian strike on the Starobilsk college dormitory in Luhansk prompted a harsh response from Moscow.
According to Russia's claim, on May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Starobilsk Professional College in the Luhansk People's Republic. As a result, 21 people were killed and over 40 were injured.
Putin called the incident a terrorist act
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the attack as a "terrorist act" and stated that he had instructed the Ministry of Defense to develop response measures.
It is noted that since the start of the war in Ukraine, the Russian army has used the Oreshnik missile system for the third time.
