In our country, there are a total of 184,582 kilometers of roads. Of this, nearly 142,000 kilometers are internal roads.
In the last four years, 15 trillion sums have been allocated for the construction and repair of internal roads. The streets in neighborhoods and remote villages are also in good condition, serving the well-being of the population. However, there is no system responsible for their maintenance.
This is because the Automobile Roads Committee deals with state and international significance roads and bridges. Internal roads and bridges, on the other hand, are under the control of local municipalities. Currently, 43,000 kilometers of internal roads are in need of repair, and the ownership of 2,354 bridges is unclear.
Therefore, it is planned to create a system responsible for these issues at the district level. According to the proposal, maintenance services for internal roads will be organized in the Beautification Departments of 208 districts and cities. They will be equipped with four types of essential special equipment. The budget is expected to allocate the necessary funds for this.
Analyses show that funds directed towards road maintenance significantly reduce repair expenses. If funds are allocated on time and internal roads are exploited properly, their repair periods can be extended by at least twice.
For this reason, officials were instructed to implement new mechanisms for financing the maintenance and repair of internal roads. The need to continue the repair and construction of new internal roads based on the demands of the population was emphasized.
