President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video conference meeting dedicated to increasing production, exports, and investments in the electrical engineering sector. The meeting was attended by more than 100 experienced entrepreneurs in the sector. This was reported by the President's press service.
The head of our state emphasized that in the last seven years, $1 billion in investments have been made in the sector due to the created opportunities. As a result, 762 new enterprises have been launched, and 45 types of new products have been introduced.
The volume of production grew 1.8 times, and the companies with an annual income exceeding 100 billion UZS increased from 6 to 25. Revenues to the budget from enterprises in the sector increased eightfold.
The number of countries to which our products are exported has doubled over the last three years, reaching 62.
Our President highlighted that the export of electrical engineering has reached $1 billion, becoming the second major local industrial sector after textile.
However, it was also noted that there is potential to produce a range of electrical engineering products such as smart cards, generators, telecommunication devices, and office equipment locally.
Our region's market opportunities worth $5 billion are not being fully utilized.
In conditions where every country is strictly protecting its internal market, the President stressed that our only way is to enhance our product's competitiveness by ensuring quality and reducing the cost.
This can be achieved by expanding the value-added chain in the sector.
