Messages stating “From October 1, 2024, alimony payments will increase by 10-15%” are spreading on social networks.

According to the officials of the MIB speaking to darakchi.uz, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 18, 2024, “On increasing the amount of wages, pensions, and benefits”, from September 1, 2024, the amount of pensions and benefits will increase by 15 percent, and from October 1, 2024, the amount of wages for pedagogical staff will increase by 15 percent, and the amount of wages for employees of budget organizations will increase by 10 percent.

Furthermore, from October 1, 2024, the minimum wage has also been increased by 10 percent to 1,155,000 UZS.

Based on the above, from September 1, 2024

  • the amount of alimony paid according to execution documents directed at the debtor's benefits will increase by 15 percent;
  • from October 1, 2024, the amount of alimony paid according to execution documents directed at the wages of debtor pedagogical staff will increase by 15 percent;
  • from October 1, 2024, the amount of alimony paid according to execution documents directed at the wages of debtors working in the private sector and budget organizations will increase by 10 percent.

In addition, from October 1, 2024, in our country, the increase in wages by 10 percent will in turn affect the average monthly wage announced by the Statistics Agency, meaning that the amount of alimony paid by unemployed alimony payers will also increase by an average of 10 percent.

For your information, if the alimony payer is unemployed or if documents confirming their salary and (or) income are not provided, the alimony debt at the time of collection is calculated based on the average monthly salary in Uzbekistan.
