The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the city of Samarkand on September 25 to participate in the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) link.
During the meeting, our country’s leader will deliver a speech at the plenary session and will conduct a series of meetings within the framework of the event.
It is worth noting that the ninth meeting of the Board of Governors is devoted to the theme "Creating Sustainable Infrastructure for All". Key issues on the global economic agenda will be addressed, and strategic programs and plans for developing infrastructure in Asia and other regions of the world will be discussed.
In the two-day summit held in the city of Samarkand, the participation of high-level delegations from over 100 countries, leaders and representatives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other international organizations, as well as managers of leading foreign companies and prominent experts, with nearly 2,000 participants in total, is expected.
Uzbekistan became a member of the AIIB in November 2016. In recent years, our country has become one of the largest beneficiaries of the bank. The portfolio of completed and current projects exceeds 3 billion dollars, covering priority areas such as "green" energy, road transport and utilities modernization, education and healthcare, and support for the private sector.
