The court case regarding the explosion in Sergeli, which resulted in the death of a 16-year-old teenager and injured 163 people, has concluded, and the verdict has been announced. This was reported by Zokirjon Qo‘ziboyev - press secretary of Tashkent city court to darakchi.uz.
During the court session held today, on October 11, in the building of Mirabad district court for criminal cases, four defendants S.F., A.F., B.S., and N.K. were found guilty under Article 259 (Violation of fire safety regulations) parts 2 "a" and "b" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and were sentenced to deprivation of the right to hold positions related to fire safety duties for two years, and to five years of imprisonment. The sentence will be served in a penal colony, and the term of the sentence is counted from September 29, 2023. The "arrest" as a preventive measure applied to them remains unchanged.
Moreover, the claims filed by the civil plaintiffs and recognized victims "S.S." LLC, "A-O" LLC, "A.S." LLC were satisfied by the court.
The court document stipulated that the defendants S.F., A.F., B.S., N.K., and civil defendants "Interlogistics" LLC, "Polychem" LLC are jointly liable to compensate the plaintiffs and recognized victims.
Appeals against the verdict and protests can be filed within ten days from the date the verdict is announced, or within the same period through the court that issued the verdict to Tashkent city court, after the verdict comes into legal force, then, in the cassation order.
The explosion in Sergeli
On the night of September 28 last year, a powerful explosion occurred in the warehouse belonging to "Inter Logistics" LLC in the "Builders" area of Tashkent city's Sergeli district. As a result, 592 apartments in 26 multi-story buildings, 8 service points, 1 school, and the facade and windows of 2 preschool educational institution buildings were damaged.
Furthermore, 163 citizens were injured in the explosion, and as a result, a teenager born in 2006 died on the spot.
The National Guard units were involved in eliminating the consequences of the emergency, and the mayor of Tashkent city, Shavkat Umurzoqov, and the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, arrived at the scene to control the situation. According to the city mayor, the material damage will be compensated.
After the explosion at the warehouse, 4 people were detained by a government decision. It has been reported that a criminal case was initiated by the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs under Article 259 parts 2 "a" and "b" of the Criminal Code.
