According to the latest report by the World Health Organization, in September, cases of mpox (monkeypox) infection have reached record levels worldwide. This was reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Health.
In this period, 2763 new cases were registered, marking an 8 percent increase compared to August. The majority of identified patients, namely 1756 individuals, are residents of the African region.
In turn, the mortality rates from the monkeypox virus are also increasing. According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to date, 1.1 thousand patients infected with mpox have died.
Based on this, the center concluded that “the epidemiological situation related to the spread of this infection in Africa is getting out of control.”
