The World Health Organization has approved a new diagnostic method for tuberculosis, considered one of the dangerous diseases. This was reported by the WHO press service.

“Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra,” this test is designed to detect the genetic markers of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria — the causative agent of tuberculosis in the suspect's sputum through molecular analysis.

Medical test results are known within a few hours. Furthermore, this test can also identify genetic mutations in the infection found in the sputum. This helps doctors in selecting alternative treatment methods.

We remind you: tuberculosis causes the death of more than a million patients worldwide every year. Currently, early detection of this disease, especially its drug-resistant forms, is included among the global goals of the WHO.
