President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on major transport infrastructure projects on February 3rd. The President's press service reported this.
In response to the growing needs of the population and the economy, the transport sector is being consistently developed. Following the decision of our country's leader on October 10, 2023, the road industry was improved, and the scope of road construction, repair, and utilization increased.
This decision also outlined the prospects for the establishment of modern highways. Specifically, with the participation of the World Bank, the alternative road project "Tashkent – Andijan" was designed. The completion of this high-speed motorway, with a total length of 314 kilometers, will reduce travel time from Tashkent to Andijan from 5 hours to 3 hours. Additionally, it can increase the gross domestic product by 2.6% and reduce traffic accidents by 40%.
Recently, an international tender was announced for this project. Within a short period, many prestigious foreign companies expressed their interest.
During the meeting, proposals for this project were reviewed. The Ministry of Transport was tasked with constructing alternative motorways on other heavily trafficked roads, enhancing convenience and safety on roads, and organizing various paid services.
The country's leader was also informed about the project of establishing a "dry port" in the Navoi region in collaboration with the “AD Ports Group” corporation of the United Arab Emirates.
