In January of this year, foreign investments amounted to 3.0 billion dollars, representing a 1.4-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
Of this, sectoral project absorptions accounted for 1.2 billion dollars (a 107% increase) and regional projects amounted to 1.8 billion dollars (a 187% increase). Among them, financing was initiated for 513 new projects worth 23 billion dollars, within the framework of which 1.1 billion dollars of foreign investments were absorbed.
Additionally, foreign investments exceeding 20 million dollars were absorbed in 26 districts and cities. Specifically, in Karmana district, practical work began on 3 projects within the chemical cluster worth 334 million dollars, of which "Zarafshon industrial technology" LLC JV utilized 50 million dollars in investments during the reporting period for caustic soda and chlorine production projects with Chinese investors. In Ohangaron district, "Metal processing technology" (ICG) LLC JV outlined the production expansion project worth 20 million dollars aiming to manufacture 5 thousand tons of copper pipes and fittings. Based on "Navoiyazot" JSC, projects to establish a power block for chemical technology clusters worth 2 billion dollars and a 300 MW photovoltaic power station assimilated 22 million dollars. In Andijan district, the "Silk Road" (Chinese industrial zone) industrial zone placed more than 9 projects worth over 300 million dollars, starting the absorption of foreign investments.
In particular, "TIAN JIAO HONGAN AGRICULTURE HIGHTECH" LLC JV utilized 10 million dollars in a deep pepper processing project valued at 36 million dollars and "LONGPING-BEREKE" LLC JV absorbed 2.3 million dollars within the hybrid seed production project worth 10 million dollars. 3 projects with a total value of 3 billion dollars, specifically in Angor district a combined cycle heat power plant with a capacity of 1560 MW, in Nurobod district a solar photovoltaic power station with a capacity of 500 MW, and in Gijduvon district a wind power station with a capacity of 600 MW absorbed investments exceeding 100 million dollars. In Davlatobod district, foreign investors funded a higher education institution and a multi-storey residential complex within the New Namangan town construction project, absorbing 15 million dollars.
With the participation of the Asian Development Bank, a 152 million dollars worth project to develop drinking water supply systems in the western part of Uzbekistan is underway at the "Mangit water purification facilities" construction site in Amudarya district. Within the framework of the 161 million dollars worth project for constructing and reconstructing drinking and wastewater systems (phase-3) in Tashkent region cities and districts, a new wastewater treatment facility with a daily capacity of 130 thousand cubic meters is being built in Chirchiq city.
During the reporting period, 374 medium and small projects worth 231 million dollars were launched, creating 6,800 new jobs. Of these, 212 projects were launched ahead of schedule, and the initiation of 52 additional projects was ensured. Specifically, in Yangiariq district, the "Carwings Khorezm Plast" LLC's project, funded by 8 million dollars in investments, for producing 11,500 units of plastic spare parts for cars annually (180 jobs), was launched. In Namangan city, the "Namangan Sharbati" LLC’s project for processing 20,000 tons of fruits and vegetables annually was launched with 9 million dollars investments, creating 25 jobs. In Yunusabad district, the "YUNUSABAD GALLERIA" LLC's project to establish a shopping, entertainment, and business center was launched with investments of 29 million dollars.
