The DXX and IIB employees conducted a rapid operation in Tashkent city uncovering an illegal religious group
During the night at one of the capital's national food restaurants, 3 customs officers, a student of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, a deputy director of a technopark, a deputy director of a private driving school, persons involved in trade at the “Sergeli-auto” market, and others, totaling 17 citizens, gathered under the pretext of dining and organized meetings in the form of illegal communities, using various religious literature.
The majority of these individuals, born between 1976 and 2001, originally from Namangan, now reside in Tashkent city.
It was revealed that the Deputy Head of the Customs Committee, fervently devoted to religion, has been regularly organizing these informal religious lessons since 2021. He collected a certain amount of money from the community members for each lesson and paid it to the instructors.
Group members received online lessons via the “Telegram” messenger from an individual born in 1989 in Namangan region, who is currently in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Moreover, they were also taught offline religious lectures by a student from the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
Currently, the Deputy Head of the Customs Committee, a rapid response officer and a senior inspector of customs bodies, as well as a student of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, and the individual who provided religious lessons online from the state of Egypt, are being investigated under Article 216 of the Criminal Code (Illegal formation of public associations or religious organizations), and investigative actions are being taken.
Suspect status has been applied to the remaining citizens within the context of the criminal case.
