Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the city of Samarkand on April 23. This was reported by the President's press service.
It was announced that the head of state will hold a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Sergey Lavrov arrived in Samarkand on April 22.
On April 23, he met with the head of Uzbekistan's MFA Bakhtiyor Saidov, discussing the current state and prospects of political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian cooperation, as well as exchanging views on regional and international issues.
Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that during the negotiations, the ministers focused on international issues, regional security, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and cooperation within the "Central Asia—Russia" framework, as well as preparing for the 80th anniversary celebrations of Victory.
In the second half of the day, the national leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, will visit Uzbekistan. The leaders are planned to hold negotiations and participate in a number of events.
