The foreign minister who visited Uzbekistan, Sergey Lavrov, pointed out the absence of Russian language inscriptions during his visit to the "Grieving Mother" monument in Samarkand. Sherzodkhon Qudratkhoja responded to Lavrov's objection here.
"Each country decides in which language to write around historical monuments or statues within its territory. It is wrong for a foreign minister from another state to come and criticize us. After all, we are not their colony! Our ministers should also learn to ask bold questions like Lavrov when they visit Russia, it seems," he says.
Qudratkhoja asks about the reasons for the discrimination against Uzbek migrants in Russia.
"Why does the local authority, migration services, or police apply situations that violate basic human rights against them, while the Russian public and government officials remain silent?
Sergey Lavrov comes and wants to explain to us that 'the symbol of the mother is sacred', focusing on the mere presence or absence of a sign, we should also bring to his attention and remind him that 'human rights are also sacred'.
Lavrov also talked about the cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union. Who to establish relations with or to what extent to cooperate is decided by the state itself! Nobody has the right to interfere in the internal affairs of Uzbekistan. This also applies to the level of relations with the European Union, which is determined by Uzbekistan itself. This shows that our state's foreign policy is multi-vector, - writes Professor Sherzodkhon Qudratkhoja.
