In coordination with authorized bodies of Uzbekistan, the movement of individuals, light vehicles, buses, and freight vehicles with a capacity of up to 3.5 tons through the “Tajen” checkpoint has been temporarily suspended. This was reported by the Kazakhstan State Customs Committee, relying on “Kazinform” news.
The decision was made with the aim of ensuring the safety of citizens, and accelerating construction and reconstruction works.
Currently, extensive work is being carried out in the area: installing metal structures, laying engineering networks, and major repairs of buildings, according to the report.
In addition, between May—August, a roadway will be laid in the neutral zone between the “Tajen” (Kazakhstan) and “Dovut ota” (Uzbekistan) checkpoints. Similar works are also planned to be carried out by the Uzbek side.
Due to the ongoing construction works, Kazakhstan has officially approached Uzbekistan to propose extending the border crossing restrictions for another four months — until September 1, 2025. Uzbekistan has supported this.
We ask citizens to take this information into account when planning their travels and routes, the report says.
The crossing and passage of light vehicles, buses, and freight transport up to 3.5 tons through the “Tajen”—“Dovut ota” checkpoints had been temporarily suspended since February 1, 2025, during the reconstruction period of the post.
