In May 2025, the ongoing negotiations on a nuclear deal between the USA and Iran are causing serious concern in Israel. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Israeli government is apprehensive that the Trump administration will agree to a deal that allows Iran to maintain its uranium enrichment capabilities. Read more.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his dissatisfaction with these negotiations through the media, emphasizing that “a weak deal is worse than no deal at all.” According to him, a deal that does not limit Iran's ability to obtain a nuclear bomb would restrict Israel's options for military actions.

The negotiations were conducted in five phases under the leadership of the US Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, but the sides could not reach an agreement on the issue of uranium enrichment.
According to Israeli intelligence, Iran is increasing its reserves of uranium enriched up to 60% and strengthening its underground nuclear facilities. This situation is forcing Israel to consider the possibility of a preemptive strike, but without the support of the US, it would be difficult to carry out. The White House, meanwhile, advises patience in this regard.

While the Trump administration prefers diplomacy, it is not ruling out a military option. President Trump has urged Israel to refrain from independent military actions during the negotiations.
Additionally, in April, Saudi Arabia's Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman warned Iran to take Trump's nuclear deal proposal seriously, otherwise, there is a risk of being subjected to an Israeli military strike.
