On April 24, in Tashkent, a meeting on border issues was held between the government delegations of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan took place.
It discussed the demarcation of the final unregulated border section between the two countries and the conditions for joint use of the “Chashma” spring.
During the negotiations, the main terms of the Agreement on the joint use of the “Chashma” spring between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan were approved.
The parties specifically emphasized that the “Chashma” spring is the common wealth of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Agreements were reached on the unhindered and unobstructed use of this spring by the citizens of Uzbekistan, ensuring that the Uzbek side uses two-thirds of the spring, and any actions that might affect the volume and quality of the spring’s water resources should be coordinated with the Uzbek side.
Furthermore, the parties agreed not to allow any measures that would hinder the full use of the “Chashma” spring by the citizens of both countries, in the spirit of friendship and good neighborliness.
The parties agreed to finalize and sign the agreement on the joint use of the “Chashma” spring as well as the agreement on the section of the State border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan within a short period.
