The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, discussed issues of further strengthening friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan during a telephone conversation that took place on April 26 discussed.
The focus was on the implementation of agreements reached at the end of the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August of last year.
Particular satisfaction was noted with the productive work being carried out within the Year of Economic Cooperation. The volume of trade has increased by 20 percent since the beginning of the year. Projects in the automotive, textile, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors have entered an active phase.
A rich program of cultural-humanitarian exchange is being implemented jointly.
Thorough preparations for the high-level summits planned for this year, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, forums of regions and rectors, and cultural events, were noted as important.
The leaders also exchanged views on the regional agenda, reviewing plans for upcoming multilateral events, including those within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
