In the Denizli province of Turkey, 11 people were injured as a result of firing into the air during a wedding ceremony. This was reported by the Milliyet publication.
According to reports, the incident occurred on June 21 in the Kiralan neighborhood of the Çivril district. According to preliminary information, during the bride-honoring ceremony, a 15-year-old teenager wanted to fire into the air according to tradition.
However, the pellets from the rifle ricocheted off the ground and hit the wedding participants. As a result, 11 people sustained injuries of varying degrees.
All of the injured were taken to the hospital. Later, two of them were sent to medical facilities in the city of Denizli for further medical examination and treatment. According to doctors, there is no danger to the lives of the injured.
After the incident, the teenager was taken to the police station. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
It is noted that in some regions of Turkey, the tradition of firing into the air at weddings, military send-off ceremonies, and other festive events is still preserved. Experts emphasize that such incidents cause dozens of people to be injured and, in some cases, killed every year.
