Iran's defense minister Aziz Nosirzoda warned on May 4 that Iran would target American bases in the Middle East in response to any US military actions. This was reported by Al Arabiya here.
If we are attacked — if war is declared — we will respond with force. We will target their interests and bases. Iran has no hostile intentions towards its neighbors. However, if Washington launches an attack, US bases in those neighboring countries will be targeted, said Aziz Nosirzoda in an interview broadcast on state television the evening of May 4.
On the same day, Iran showcased its latest ballistic missile named “Qassem Basir.” This solid-fuel ballistic missile has a range of 1200 kilometers.
Iran and the US have been conducting nuclear negotiations since April 12. In March, US President Donald Trump sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, calling for negotiations and warning of potential military actions if diplomacy fails.
Western countries, including the US, have long accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons. However, Tehran has consistently denied this.
