In recent years, Uzbekistan has become a crossroads of dialogues and initiatives. Our country, historically situated at the center of the Great Silk Road, continues to develop in a manner befitting its status. Under the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a spirit of solidarity and good neighborliness has been fostered in the region. Interregional relations have further developed.
The recent “Central Asia – European Union” first summit held in the city of Samarkand serves as an example of our viewpoint. In line with the agenda of this prestigious event, pressing climate issues facing Central Asia were discussed, issues of ecological sustainability, "green" economic development, and combating climate change through regional cooperation were reviewed. At the summit, our country's leader delivered a speech and proposed a series of initiatives, thereby indicating the priority directions of our collaborative efforts for the medium and long term.
“As a result of the summit, a historic decision will be made to establish a strategic partnership between Central Asia and the European Union. We believe it necessary to jointly develop and adopt comprehensive measures aimed at implementing the rules of the document to be adopted,” – our President said. Moreover, he proposed holding an international investment forum in Tashkent at the beginning of June in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, presenting it as a priority criterion for our cooperation in economic and technological modernization.
This also holds significant importance in expanding mutual regional cooperation and advancing economic indicators to a new phase. Additionally, our President proposed significant initiatives on deepening cooperation and investments in strategic mineral resources, "Green" energy and ecological stability, as well as on investments directed towards Human Capital, and expanding exchanges in education and cultural-humanitarian fields.
In this sense, today, not only in economic-political, but also in cultural-humanitarian fields, the close relationship with regional and neighboring countries plays a significant role in working together unanimously. Experts express the following views regarding the hosting of this prestigious summit in Uzbekistan and the signals it sends:
Primarily, this represents confidence in the political objectives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. – The development and progress of states of regional status determine the fate of surrounding nations. Uzbekistan is becoming one of such states. This is being recognized at the international level. Thus, in recent years another critical turning point seems to be occurring, with Uzbekistan actively working to solve global problems. Our President is indicating that countries need to understand that we are all in the same boat, setting aside mutual conflicts.
As time passes, the significance of these efforts for the well-being of people becomes increasingly apparent. As highlighted, this is a new phase indicating the emergence of a new Uzbekistan as a political subject at the international level. And this, of course, is a historic achievement of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's political doctrine.
