A person was arrested in Navoiy for illegally transporting 15 snakes listed in the "Red Book". This was reported by the Tashkent regional customs department and the Ministry of Ecology.
It was reported that during a swift operation, a citizen of a neighboring country was stopped while trying to take out 15 live boiga snakes without the proper permissions through the "Navoiy" border customs post as he was leaving Uzbekistan.
The mentioned snakes, placed in a 10-liter glue container, belong to the species of "eastern cat snake" and are found in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Ustyurt plateau, the Southern Aral Sea region, the Renaissance peninsula, the Central Kyzylkum, the Zarafshan valley, the Karshi desert, the Zarafshan mountains, Kashkadarya, Jizzakh region (Zomin district), the deserts of Sirdarya region, the mountain slopes of the Tashkent region, the Fergana valley, and the flat and foothill areas of the Surkhandarya region.
Experts emphasize that these snakes are listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan.
