"Green Spaces" national project within the framework and consistently continuing reforms in the forest management system, increasing green areas measures regarding the Presidential Decree (PF-90-number, May 30, 2025) was adopted. The Ministry of Justice reported this.
According to the decree, from January 1, 2026, targeted indicators for improving the greening, viability, disease and pest resistance of tree and shrub seedlings were set as follows:
- establishing mother plantations from plant species suitable for the climatic conditions of the republic's territories in seed-breeding laboratories;
- doubling the volume of seedlings provided by state forest enterprises.
From October 1, 2025, in implementing the "Green Spaces" national project, the following mechanisms aimed at increasing public participation, ensuring transparency and digitalization on the "Green Spaces" electronic platform will be introduced:
- indicating specific areas where trees can be planted by public initiative, water supply availability, further maintenance possibility, and types of trees;
- implementing a system for accounting for tree and shrub seedlings planted as compensation by individuals who have illegally cut down or destroyed trees and shrubs that do not belong to the forest fund.
From November 1, 2025, forest fund land plots will be protected separately, and their classification changes will be implemented according to the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
