Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed in an interview with “ABC News” that the US had sent nearly 20,000 anti-aircraft missiles not to Ukraine but to the Middle East.
“We are fighting against 'Shahed' drones. There is a huge need for missiles. We were expecting these missiles. But this morning, my Defense Minister told me: The US has decided to send them to the Middle East,” said Zelensky.
According to him, these missiles were originally intended to defend against Russian attacks. However, their shipment was redirected to another region.
As “The Wall Street Journal” reports, this decision was made during the term of former US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The detonator parts of the missiles were allocated to meet the needs of American soldiers in the Middle East.
While criticizing this situation, the Ukrainian leader pointed to the reassessment of the aid and its priority directions provided by Western countries.
