Yesterday, June 22nd, the political center of the Netherlands – The Hague city woke up under peace slogans and protests. Here, a protest march against the NATO summit took place.

The demonstration saw the participation of left-wing party representatives, pacifists, “LGBTQ+” movement supporters, as well as hundreds of activists expressing solidarity with the people of Iran and Gaza. Many of the protesters appeared with Palestinian flags in their hands and “keffiyehs” on their heads.

Notably, during the protest, some participants chanted the slogan “From the river to the sea…” which is banned in Germany. This could potentially cause political tension in several European countries.

The NATO summit is planned to be held in The Hague in the coming days. Protesters criticized this summit. Jimmy Dijk, a deputy from the Socialist Party of the Netherlands, accused the government of remaining silent on the genocide in Gaza.

A representative of the Protestant organization – “Peace and Church”, Henk Baars, says:

“Christians should not be in a war bloc. NATO is an investment in violence.”

There are conflicting reports about the number of protesters. According to the Dutch “De Telegraaf” newspaper, nearly 5,000 people participated in the action. However, the AP agency estimated this number to be several hundred.
