It has been reported that the airport terminal has been in operation for over 30 years, and today its capacity and service capabilities no longer fully meet modern requirements.
Therefore, it is planned to comprehensively develop the infrastructure in line with the expansion of flight geography, economic activity, and the growth of tourist flow. The presentation addressed issues of extending and widening the runway, modernizing the airfield, and constructing new passenger and cargo terminals.
The new passenger terminal, expected to have an area of 20,000 square meters, will have a capacity to serve up to 1,200 passengers per hour. Additional aircraft parking stands will be built, increasing aircraft parking capacity to up to 10.
The new terminal is planned to feature spacious waiting halls, modern service points, convenient check-in and control systems, as well as separate service conditions for VIP guests.
The head of state emphasized that the airport is the "gateway" of any region and provided recommendations for establishing modern service and developing adjacent service networks. It was noted that the project is important to implement based on international standards with the participation of foreign operators.
It has been reported that if the project is implemented, transport connectivity in the Fergana Valley is expected to improve, tourist flow to increase, and the region's status as a logistical hub to strengthen. The President's visit to the Fergana region has concluded, and the head of state has returned to Tashkent.
