“Amazon” founder Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sanchez's wedding ceremony planned to be held in Venice has caused dissatisfaction among the local population.
The ceremony was scheduled to take place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore on the 26th–28th of June. However, due to growing protests, the main reception was moved to the Arsenale area, which is less visited by tourists.
“No Space for Bezos” — under this name, several local organizations united to sharply criticize the American billionaire's entry into the city. According to them, the city has experienced a “VIP invasion” on the pretext of the wedding.
