In the first six months of this year, 18 internal affairs officers in Uzbekistan died while performing their official duties. This was announced today, July 14, by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ramazon Ashropov at a press conference dedicated to the results of the internal affairs agencies' activities in the first half of 2026.
According to him, during this period, another 78 internal affairs officers were injured while resolving various dangerous situations in the line of duty.
"In 2026 alone, 18 officers died while performing their official duties. Their bright memory will forever remain in our hearts. At the same time, 78 of our colleagues were injured while resolving various dangerous situations," said Ramazon Ashropov.
For reference, in 2025, 6 internal affairs officers died while performing their official duties, and 131 were injured.
Let us recall that on November 21, 2025, in the Davlatobod district of Namangan region, a driver who did not have a document confirming his driving license struck and killed senior sergeant Vahobjon Mominov of the road patrol service while he was performing his official duties.
Subsequently, the court sentenced the driver to six years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of three years.
Also, on February 25 of this year, a 10th-grade student driving a BMW car struck and killed a road patrol service officer.
