The Zhuhai city court in China sentenced Dai Daojin to death on June 24 for bribery. He was the former vice-chairman of the Hunan Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference and was accused of amassing illegal wealth of more than 15 million dollars. This was reported by “Zamon.uz” here.
According to the court's decision, the execution of the sentence is suspended for two years, after which it can be replaced with life imprisonment. Dai Daojin was also deprived of political rights for life and his property was confiscated.
It was found that he had accepted bribes amounting to more than 107 million yuan (14.9 million dollars) through his position or relatives. His illegal earnings will be confiscated to the state treasury.
The leader of China, Xi Jinping, has emphasized that the fight against corruption will continue and that such crimes will never be tolerated within the party.
