According to draft law No. 12414 adopted by the Ukrainian parliament on July 22, the country's main anti-corruption bodies — NABU and SAP — will be subordinated to the Prosecutor General's Office. The law grants the Prosecutor General the authority to oversee investigations, redistribute duties among prosecutors, and issue written instructions.

Over a thousand citizens gathered for a protest against the law on Ivan Franko Square in Kyiv. Demonstrators are demanding that the president veto the law. Similar protests have also been planned in Lviv and Dnipro.

EU Commissioner Marta Kosh emphasized that "undermining NABU's independence through this law is a serious step backward on the European path."
