According to the President, by 2040, water scarcity in the Aral Sea basin could reach up to 20 billion cubic meters per year. This poses a serious threat to the ecology, agriculture, and energy sectors.
Mirziyoyev reported that water-saving technologies have been implemented on 60 percent of irrigated land in Uzbekistan, saving 10 billion cubic meters of water annually.
At the same time, he proposed modernizing the activities of the Fund, strengthening financing mechanisms, and expanding regional cooperation.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan put forward an initiative to declare 2026–2036 the Decade for the Rational Use of Water in Central Asia.
