According to Politico, the European Commission aims to open the first "cluster of negotiations" on membership with Moldova by early September.
Sources indicate that this decision is being implemented as a strong political gesture ahead of the parliamentary elections in Moldova, which are leaning toward President Maia Sandu's party.
However, this situation could provoke discontent in Ukraine. Previously, Ukraine and Moldova were moving forward together. Currently, Ukraine is facing several obstacles in its EU accession talks, including strong opposition from Hungary.
According to Politico, Moldova, on the other hand, does not face significant hurdles in this regard and could become a member sooner.
