According to the publication, European officials have not reached a consensus on the depth of this buffer zone, but an area of 40 kilometers has been discussed.

At the same time, European diplomats are trying to avoid drawing parallels with the situation on the Korean Peninsula and cite Germany's "post-war" experience as an example.

One of the difficulties associated with the proposal is that it might require approximately 60,000 peacekeeping forces to patrol the zone.

It is also unknown whether Kyiv would agree to such territorial terms.

According to Politico, the US is not participating in these negotiations.
