The Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the law "On introducing additions and amendments to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Enforcement Codes."

From now on, if convicts read spiritual-educational books and pass an exam in the established manner, their sentence may be reduced by 3 days for each book.

Main conditions:

The books must be from the list approved by the Republic Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment.

An exam must be taken on the book read, and the result must be confirmed.

The term is reduced by 3 days for each book, but by a maximum of 30 days per year.

Applies only to convicts who are eligible for early conditional release (those serving a life sentence are excluded).

These changes can now be applied to more than 13.5 thousand convicts currently serving their sentences in penal institutions.

The senators fully supported this law.
