Germany's President and Chancellor Friedrich Merz refused this demand. According to them, this issue is "legally settled from Germany's point of view."

Nawrocki, however, stressed that Poland should receive reparations amounting to 1.3 trillion euros.

Despite this, Merz expressed confidence in firm cooperation with Poland against the Russian threat.

For reference, reparations refer to compensation paid by one state to another for material and moral damage caused as a result of war or a violation of law.
